Meet our Director: Damian Sandys

Damian is currently Artistic Director for Hot Box Productions, Associate Director for C theatre and The Humble Theatre Company, and a member of the Young Vic Genesis Directors Project. He has directed the London revival of tick, tick...BOOM! starring Olivier Award-winner Leanne Jones (Union Theatre); six seasons of NewsRevue (Canal Café Theatre); the sell-out runs of Shakespeare For Breakfast and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (both Edinburgh Festival and subsequent London transfers); Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (for HRH Queen Elizabeth II’s Birthday Celebrations); The London Revue (Hen and Chickens); Snoopy!!!, Honk!, Side By Side By Sondheim (Hot Box Productions); Twelve Angry Men and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Ready Ay Ready Productions).

Assisting/Resident credits include: Mathilde (assisting Simon Callow); Me And My Girl (London Palladium); Into The Woods (Upstairs at the Gatehouse), David Mamet’s The Shawl; Whatsonstage.Com Awards Concert 2009, 2010, 2011 (Prince Of Wales Theatre). Damian has also worked on the world premiere of The Witches of Eastwick (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane for Cameron Mackintosh), Honk! (The Royal National Theatre’s tour), Mary Poppins (Prince Edward Theatre) and Evita (Adelphi Theatre). He has also been Company Manager for Crazy For You (London Palladium) and The Boy Friend (Her Majesty's Theatre).

Film/Television credits include: BBC News and First Say, for the launch of digital television, with Heather Mills.

Damian is also Chairman of the Beck Youth Theatre, and he runs education workshops for the West End productions of The Woman In Black, The 39 Steps, Blood Brothers, Billy Elliot, Wicked, Chicago and We Will Rock You.
